Cynthia Berry

Cynthia, manager of Business Continuity and Security at DeVry Inc., oversees the business development of global COOP and enterprise-wide BC plans while developing security initiatives, organizing awareness training as well as assisting with IT DR strategic planning.  She is involved in the enhancement of security policies to protect students and employees against threats and violence, while developing robust threat assessment teams (TAT) consisting of law enforcement, crisis consultants, psychologists and other respected professionals.  This also includes assisting in the management of an international team of emergency response coordinators and first responders.  A published author, Cynthia has presented at conferences and seminars on Leadership, Change Management, and Disaster Recovery.  Cynthia is a graduate from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and holds advanced degrees in Psychology and Counseling.


Philip Bierdz
Philip Bierdz is the Manager of Infrastructure at Riverside Medical Center.  Phil has over 16 years of expertise in infrastructure design and management with overall responsibility for enterprise network and server systems, including email.  In his last year, Phil led a complete replacement of the college’s network systems, architected and contracted a campus-wide wireless system, and was the driving force behind adopting an email archiving solution for Moraine Valley Community College.  Phil has served for three years as President of the Illinois Community College Technology Commission, President of the Illinois Council of Community College Administrators, and as a full member of the Illinois Advanced Engineering Taskforce.  Philip earned his bachelor in science in computer science from Northern Illinois University, his MBA from the University of Phoenix, and has eight hours towards a doctorate in management and leadership studies.  When not in front of his computer, he can be found fishing or bike riding with his wife and two children.


 
Brett Foy
Brett Foy is a Datacenter Technology Consultant at Ahead focused on design and architecture of advanced datacenter technologies around Virtualization, Computing, Networking, Storage, and Backup / Recovery. Prior to joining Ahead, Brett worked at a large IT manufacturer where he was responsible for the divisional Virtualization Datacenter Practice as a practice manager as well as having also spent 5 years in a technology consulting and architecture sales support role. Prior to moving into the consulting and architecture role, Brett was an AVP responsible for managing the North American datacenter infrastructure focused on datacenter virtualization and consolidation around many technologies including Server, Backup, Desktop, eMail, Security, Web Hosting and SAP for a multi-national global insurance company.

Ken Giden
Ken Giden is a 16 year storage industry professional focused primarily within the Backup and Disaster Recovery arena. As a graduate of the School of Electrical Engineering at Purdue University, he began his career with Storage Technology Corporation (StorageTek) in 1997 as an Electrical Engineer on the STK 9840 tape drive design team. While continuing his tenure with STK, he moved into Technical Sales positioning the entire STK tape, disk, and library product line to current and prospective customers. After STK, he spent the next 4 ˝ years at VERITAS Software Corporation (now Symantec) primarily supporting one of the industry’s largest backup applications – NetBackup – in addition to other Disaster Recovery software modules (replication, logical volume management, clustering, etc.). He also worked as a Senior Manager with Hitachi Data Systems, his responsibility included worldwide product management in the area of capacity optimization. He now is a Senior Technical Engineer for Coraid. He also holds Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Purdue University.

Douglas Lionberger is the AD for Americas Customer Services at Mayer Brown LLP.
 
John Parkinson
John Parkinson is the SVP, Global Enterprise PMO at AXIS Capital, where he leads a team of program and project managers responsible for the successful delivery of all programs globally. In addition, he is responsible for all IT vendor management and procurement activities, managing the overall IT budget and guiding the evolution of AXIS's joint business and IT investment portfolio. Previously he has been the CTO at TransUnion LLC, CTO for Capgemini in North America and a Senior Partner at Ernst & Young. He is also the founder and managing partner of ParkWood Advisors LLC, a member of the Technology Advisory Board at Morningstar, Inc. and US Micro, Inc., and an independent director at Visible Spectrum Inc. A published author and columnist, John was named as one of the world’s 25 most influential consultants in 2003 and in 2005 he was named as one of the Computerworld 100 Leaders in IT.


Nicolas Schoonover
Nicholas Schoonover is technical marketing engineer at Nimble Storage, and has consulted for Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and the Federal Reserve Bank. He is a recognized expert on technologies including networking, databases, storage, virtualization, and disaster recovery.

Dr. Mickey Zandi
Dr. Mickey Zandi is a recognized international expert in data center design architecture and infrastructure modernization. He helps clients address key issues such as: how to transform, consolidate and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) in the data center, and how flexible infrastructure impacts IT operations. Mr. Zandi has more than 15 years experience in design and architecture, data center consolidation and transformation, and strategic IT consulting services delivery. He has designed and managed complex IT transformation and data center consolidation projects worldwide in industries such as communications (France Telecom, Equant, C&W), distribution and retail (Coca Cola Enterprises, The Home Depot), education, and banking and financial services. Mr. Zandi is experienced in discovery/assessment of client needs to creation/validation of the application interdependency model to solution design and execution of delivery through on-going operation and proven methodologies.
